About the Opportunity

The Pharmacy Sterile Operations Supervisor ensures a safe, efficient drug distribution system. Responsibilities include supervising Pharmacy Practice Assistants (PPAs) and students, participating in quality improvement processes, monitoring product acquisition and drug shortages, and developing policies and procedures. The role involves resolving technical and medication distribution issues and managing budgets for compensation and supplies.

About You

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Grade 12 and completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician/Technology Program
  • Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in Nova Scotia (NSCP)
  • At least 3 years' hospital setting experience
  • Supervisory experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques and chemotherapy precautions (asset)
  • Experience with unit dose drug distribution systems, automation, and decentralized medication cabinets (asset)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control, and record keeping
  • Ability to perform medication calculations
  • Understanding of laws and regulations on prescription and narcotic drugs
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Excel
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning, evaluative, leadership, fiscal management, and time management skills
  • Knowledge of healthcare issues and collective agreements
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license for travel between sites
  • Competency in other languages, especially French, is an asset

Hours

Permanent, 100% FTE, 75 hours bi-weekly, Monday to Friday, 8AM - 4PM

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rate: $25.63 - $32.24. Benefits include health, dental, travel, long-term disability, life insurance, and a defined benefit pension plan.
