Job summary

Sobeys Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Manager to lead our continuing care partnerships and optimize patient-centered services in Dartmouth, NS.

You will oversee daily dispensary operations, staff development, and regulatory compliance while collaborating with care teams to elevate service quality and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist degree and licensed to practice in the relevant province.
• Experience in management within a pharmacy setting is preferred.
• Continuing care consulting experience is a plus.
• Additional certifications (e.g., geriatric pharmacist, advanced prescribing) are assets.

Responsibilities

• Exceed customer expectations by building relationships with continuing care partners and delivering customer-centric solutions.
• Ensure contractual requirements and service obligations of continuing care facilities are met per agreements.
• Support patient-centered care through collaboration with the patient’s care team.
• Lead culture and KPI-driven initiatives to improve the pharmacy's performance.
• Train and develop staff, manage performance, and succession planning.

Here’s where you’ll have an impact:

• Exceed customer expectations by building strong relationships with continuing care partners and delivering customer centric solutions; role model, coach, and reinforce customer service expectations on a daily basis for all staff
• Ensure contractual requirements, including service obligations, of continuing care facilities are executed based on the corporate agreements
• Act in the patient’s best interest to implement and support patient‑centred care through professional scope of practice and collaboration with patient’s care team
• Inspire a positive, patient-focused culture and experience while developing and monitoring business plans to deliver on KPIs
• Be an ambassador to uphold and instill company values, including championing all diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, ensuring the pharmacy is an inclusive environment
• Manage the selection, onboarding, training and development, performance management, and succession planning processes
• Ensure all regulatory requirements and company policies, processes, and procedures (e.g OHS, Loss Prevention) are implemented in the pharmacy; responsible to train staff and ensure adherence
• Communicate regularly with continuing care partners to maintain relationships and update our partners on relevant pharmacy process changes or pharmacy practice changes
• Ensure Consultant Pharmacists complete contractually required activities for continuing care partner facilities; provide support and training for Consultant Pharmacists to fulfill their roles
• Learning and being familiar with the necessary process needed for accurate automation
• Learning and being familiar with additional pharmacy software (Custom Health, Point Click Care, Pacmed)
• Support onboarding new nursing home facilities to our pharmacy and eMAR go lives
• Manage daily workflow in the dispensary (utilizing Kroll and Sharepoint)
• Complete medication reconciliations for all new admissions/readmissions to partner facilities
• Support off site vaccination clinics and perform immunizations for LTC residentsand nursing home staff
• Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy practice, regulatory requirements, and industry trends/developments; attend training as required
• Responsible to oversee QRE management, communication with continuing care partners, regular staff meetings to review and implement action plans
• Travel to each continuing care partner facility annually with Consultant Pharmacists for meetings with administrators and nursing staff
• Oversee automation optimization and maintenance
• Execute pharmacy services to drive sales, control labor, monitor margins, and manage shrinkage

What you bring to the table:

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from a recognized institution
• Must be a Licensed Pharmacist, in good standing, in the province of responsibility
• Injection and First Aid Certification
• Previous management experience in a pharmacy setting
• Continuing care consulting experience is an asset
• Additional certifications are considered assets (i.e. Certified Geriatric Pharmacist, Advance Prescribing)
