Job summary

Sobeys Inc. is seeking a licensed Pharmacist to join our national pharmacy team serving Medicine Hat, AB. You will provide exceptional, patient-centered care and support continuing care contracts, while upholding regulatory requirements and corporate programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
• Licensed Pharmacist in good standing in the province of responsibility.
• Injection and First Aid Certification.
• Additional certifications (e.g., Certified Geriatric Pharmacist, Advanced Prescribing).

As a member of our pharmacy team, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional, patient-centered care and exceeding patients’ expectations. We are looking for friendly, knowledgeable, and professional individuals who will make meeting the health needs of our patients their top priority.

Here’s where you’ll have an impact:

• Demonstrate warmth, empathy, and compassion while contributing to excellence in patient-centered care, customer service, workflow efficiency, corporate pharmacy programs, and fulfilling contractual requirements for continuing care facilities.
• Provide clinical services focused on continuing care contractual obligations (e.g., disease state management, medication reviews, full scope of practice, reporting, after‑hours emergency service); occasionally required to be on‑site.
• Participate in professional programs and collaborate with colleagues to deliver outstanding health and wellness services to all patients.
• Initiate care plans, follow up, and complete accurate documentation.
• Identify actual and potential drug‑related problems through comprehensive medication reviews.
• Educate nursing staff on medication‑related topics.
• Participate in facility committees and conduct biannual medication reviews as part of the care team, collaborating with Nurses, Physicians, and Nurse Practitioners.
• Ensure prescription safety by prioritizing technical functions assigned to Pharmacy Registered Technicians and Assistants as needed.
• Provide quarterly reports to facility administration, review medication errors, and complete audits (e.g., stat box supplies, antibiotic and antipsychotic use, wound care).
• Understand all relevant corporate pharmacy service offerings and ensure each patient receives the program that best meets their healthcare needs.
• Stay current with pharmacy practice, regulatory requirements, and industry developments; attend required training.
• Adhere to all regulatory requirements and company policies, processes, and procedures (e.g., OHS, Loss Prevention, CQI).

What you bring to the table:

• A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
• A Licensed Pharmacist in good standing in the province of responsibility.
• Injection and First Aid Certification.
• Additional certifications (e.g., Certified Geriatric Pharmacist, Advanced Prescribing).
• Experience with Kroll software is preferred.
