Overview
The Pharmacy Fill Technician accurately prepares prescriptions, including picking, labeling, scanning, and final preparation for pharmacist verification. They also help maintain an organized workspace and ensure regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Pick medications from shelving and storage areas
- Verify accuracy of final preparations before pharmacist review
- Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently under pharmacist supervision
- Process returned drugs and dispose of them according to procedures
- Assist in pre-packing and labeling frequently ordered medications
- Package materials manually
- Follow all regulations including HIPAA
- Keep workstation clean and stock supplies
- Report scanning issues to the pharmacist
- Adhere to safety, attendance, and dress code policies
- Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- State-required pharmacy technician licenses/certifications
- Previous pharmacy experience (1+ years preferred, especially in long-term care)
- Knowledge of medications
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Ability to work at a moderate pace
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Reliable and detail-oriented
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift light loads
- Availability for various shifts and days
Physical Demands
- Sit or stand for 7-10 hours daily
- Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, walking, crawling
- Work extended hours as needed
- Lift/move up to 50 pounds
