Job description

OVERVIEW

Olive Fertility Centre is a patient-centered care facility which views patient care from the patient’s perspective. All employees embrace this concept ensuring patients receive excellent quality care with a compassionate, attentive touch.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  1. Customer Service
    1. Greet patient promptly.
    2. Accurate patient or representative identification.
    3. Provide clear communication with patient regarding wait times.
    4. Provide accurate information in response to patient inquiries.
    5. Ensure patients requiring counseling are referred to the nursing team in a timely and appropriate manner.
    6. Draw customer attention to literature or information as required.
    7. Adhere to all confidentiality and privacy requirements.
    8. Provide support and assistance to the care team as required, ultimately with a view to enhancing the provider-patient relationship.
  2. Prescriptions
    1. Receive internal prescriptions from physicians via paper or electronic copy.
    2. Perform a primary identification of patient and confirmation of medications to be filled.
    3. Efficiently and accurately count or measure, package, and label prescriptions, as per Pharmacy Standards of Practice, ensuring all relevant information and documentation is complete.
    4. May be required to mix or reconstitute prescriptions, as directed, and supervised by the nurses.
    5. Gather pertinent communication pieces for inclusion with prescription.
    6. File completed dispensed prescription documentation.
    7. Manual PharmaNet submissions of prescriptions in a timely manner.
  3. Stock Management
    1. Maintain inventory of dispensary medications and supplies, including ordering and receiving.
    2. Maintain and track separate inventory of compassionate medication.
    3. Maintain security and proper storage of medications within the dispensary.
    4. Participate in daily, monthly, and annual dispensary medication inventories.
    5. Generating sales reports and reconciling daily sales.
    6. Manage stock rotation and expired products.
    7. Prioritize recalls and immediately isolate product; quarantine until details of the recall are provided and follow the established protocol of the drug manufacturer or supplier.
    8. Resolve technical issues by contacting IT Service Desk.
    9. Notify the Division Leader when supply chain issues occur.
    10. Package injection supply kits per protocol.
  4. Teach patients how to use their medical devices required for the administration of their fertility medications.
  5. Other duties as trained and required/assigned.

PREREQUISITES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Certificate of completion from a Pharmacy Assistant or Technician program or 2 years’ experience working in a dispensary.
  2. Adequate computer skills. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, in particular). Understanding of the internet is necessary.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $26.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Vancouver, BC V5Z 3X7: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

Experience:

  • Pharmacy: 2 years (required)
