Job summary

Sentrex Health Solutions, a Canadian company, is seeking a Pharmacy Clerk to perform administrative duties, process statements, file prescriptions, manage inventory, and support pharmacy operations on site in Calgary. The role involves occasional deliveries, cross-training, and adherence to Alberta pharmacist guidelines.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, basic MS Office skills, and strong English communication. Pharmacy experience is an asset; Kroll knowledge is a bonus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Experience in a pharmacy setting is an asset.
  • Strong communication in English; other languages an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Scan/file pharmacy paperwork including prescription records.
  • Processing account payments and accounts receivable statements.
  • Assist with prescription processing, compounding worksheets, and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate drug and supply inventory, purchasing, and receiving.
  • Pick and pack medication and compounding orders.
  • Deliver/pick up orders on occasion.
  • Adhere to SOPs and regulatory requirements by the Alberta College of Pharmacists.
  • Contribute to ongoing policy and procedure reviews.
  • Manage dispensing and shipping schedules.
  • Monitor fridge temperatures and report variances.

The Opportunity:

The Pharmacy Clerk has primary responsibility for accurately performing administrative duties including processing statements and payments, filing/scanning of prescription records, ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, triaging phone calls, assisting with reporting and arranging courier shipments. In addition, the Pharmacy Clerk will assist with picking and packing of medications/compounded products, receiving stock, general pharmacy maintenance/cleaning, occasional deliveries and other duties as assigned.

The Pharmacy Clerk is expected to participate in all aspects of Sentrex Pharmacy required of a team player. All roles at Sentrex Pharmacy may be cross trained as permitted by scope of practice, and you may be required to help out in other areas of the pharmacy.

A Day in the Life (What you will do here):

  • Scan/file pharmacy paperwork including prescription records.
  • Processing account payments and account receivable statements.
  • Assist with prescription processing, preparation of compounding worksheets and reporting.
  • Maintaining accurate drug and supply inventory including purchasing and receiving medications and supply items, checking expiration dates, and performing scheduled inventory counts.
  • Pick and package medication and compounding orders.
  • Deliver/pick up orders on an occasional basis.
  • Adherence to all relevant guidelines including the established Standard Operating Procedures and all applicable regulatory requirements as set out by the Alberta College of Pharmacists.
  • Actively contribute to the ongoing review of policies and procedures as they pertain to pharmacy operations.
  • Manage dispensing and shipping schedules.
  • Monitoring of fridge temperatures and reporting any variances directly to the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager

What you need to ensure you are set up for success:

  • High school diploma
  • Previous experience working in a pharmacy setting an asset
  • Experience with Kroll and MS Office an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required. Ability to communicate in other languages an asset.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to self-manage time, set daily priorities and multi-task in order to meet various competing work deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to work independently as well as within a team
