Job summary

CareRx is seeking an entry-level Pharmacy Assistant to support LTC homes and retirement communities, with training provided to get you started. You will assist with preparation, packaging and organization of medication deliveries, support daily operations in our Ottawa pharmacy at 2447 Kaladar Ave, and help maintain accuracy and compliance with the Pharmacy Standards of Practice.

This on-site role offers a five-day workweek with weekend rotation and a compensation range of CAD 18.50–20.00 per

Qualifications

  • Pharmacy Assistant certification is preferred; training provided.
  • Experience with KROLL and PacMed is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, numeracy, and manual dexterity required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure precise record-keeping and prescription information from nursing staff via dispensary software.
  • Prepare medication for compliance packaging and maintain workflow for receiving and processing prescriptions within timelines.
  • Assist with pharmacy inventory management and potentially operate automated dispensing machine (PacMed) for processing and filling prescriptions.
  • Manage returns and expired products from nursing homes, including unpacking, sorting and disposal of medications.
  • Preparing creams and liquids, and generate daily and weekly production reports.
  • Maintain stock levels, reorder medications, and prepare both manual and automated compliance packaging.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation, maintaining confidentiality, adhering to ethical standards, and contributing to a clean pharmacy environment.

Role Accountabilities:

WhatYouWill Bring to The Team:
  • Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or certification from an accredited Pharmacy Assistant program is preferred, but not required - training will be provided for the position
  • Experience with KROLL and/or Pacmed an asset
  • Visual acuity, numeracy, detail oriented, manual dexterityrequired forappropriate handlingofstrip packs, prescription bottles and labels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented

Compensation Range: $18.50 - $20/hour. Actualpay rate will be based on the individual candidate’s credentials and experience.

Location: This is on-site role at our Ottawa pharmacy located at 2447 Kaladar Ave Ottawa, ON K1V8B9 and follows a five-day workweek with participation in weekend rotation.
