Job summary

CareRx is seeking an entry-level Pharmacy Assistant to support our Barrie pharmacy team in managing medication deliveries, packaging and daily operations in accordance with pharmacy standards.

You will learn on-the-job, with training provided, and collaborate with nursing homes and retirement communities to ensure accurate records, efficient packaging and timely refills, while maintaining a clean, compliant work environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or certification from an accredited Pharmacy Assistant program is preferred, but not required – training will be provided.
• Experience with KROLL and/or PacMed is an asset.
• Visual acuity, numeracy, detail oriented and dexterity required for handling strip packs, prescription bottles and labels.

Responsibilities

• Ensure precise record-keeping and prescription information from nursing staff is filled via dispensing software.
• Prepare medication for compliance packaging and maintain workflow for receiving and processing prescriptions within timelines.
• Assist with pharmacy inventory management and potentially operate PacMed for processing and filling prescriptions.
• Manage returns and expired products from nursing homes, including unpacking, sorting and disposal of medications.
• Prepare creams and liquids, and generate daily and weekly production reports.
• Maintain stock levels, reorder medications, and prepare both manual and automated compliance packaging.
• Ensure accurate documentation, maintain confidentiality, adhere to ethical standards, and contribute to a clean pharmacy environment.

CareRx is looking for a Pharmacy Assistant (Entry level- Training Provided) to join our Pharmacy team in supporting a group of LTC Homes and Retirement Communities. The Pharmacy Assistant will assist with the preparation, packaging and organization of medication deliveries, while supporting daily operations in accordance with the Pharmacy Standards of Practice.

Role Accountabilities:

What You Will Bring to The Team:

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or certification from an accredited Pharmacy Assistant program is preferred, but not required - training will be provided for the position

• Visual acuity, numeracy, detail oriented, manual dexterity required for appropriate handling of strip packs, prescription bottles and labels

Compensation Range: $18 - $20/hour. Actual pay rate will be based on the individual candidate’s credentials and experience.

This is on-site role at the Barrie Pharmacy- 72 Ross Street, Barrie ON L4N 1G3 and follows a five day work week
