Why this role is important?

SUMMARY:

To assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, support the delivery of pharmacy services, and participate in the maintenance and operations of the Pharmacy according to Pharmacy Standards of Practice. Provide superior, timely, and pleasant service to customers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Customer Service: Greet customers promptly, gather prescription information according to Standards, and refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
• Process prescriptions, ensure confidentiality, and manage cash register operations.
• Set realistic customer expectations regarding wait times.
• Assist in locating and cashing out prescriptions and ancillary items.
• Refer customers requiring counseling to the Pharmacist.

Administration:

• Receive and process new and repeat prescription orders following Standard Operating Procedures.
• Prepare and submit orders, excluding controlled drugs and narcotics.
• Manage third-party billing, online and manual accounts.
• Handle incoming faxes and coordinate call backs with the pharmacist.
• File completed documentation in accordance with Pharmacy Standards of Practice.

Prescription Workflow:

• Assist in prescription preparation according to company standards and professional services.
• Perform data entry for new prescriptions and manage refill requests.
• Select medications, count, measure, package, and label prescriptions following Pharmacy Standards.
• Maintain accurate data within Pharmacy systems.

Skills & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma; a Diploma from a Pharmacy Assistant credited course is preferred.
• Previous pharmacy experience is preferred.
• Effective organizational skills, ability to multitask, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
