Job summary

Shoppers Drug Mart in British Columbia is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to help with dispensing prescriptions, support pharmacy services, and maintain operations in accordance with Pharmacy Standards of Practice. You will greet customers, handle prescription data entry, assist in third-party billing, and support the pharmacist with clinical inquiries while upholding confidentiality and quality patient care.

Applicants should have a high school diploma and, ideally, a pharmacy assistant course;

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Assistant role supporting dispensing and pharmacy operations.
• Greet customers, verify prescriptions, refer clinical queries to Pharmacist.
• Process prescriptions and assist in dispensing workflow.
• Adjudicate third-party billing and manage related accounts.
• Adhere to confidentiality and privacy standards.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly and gather prescription information.
• Refer to the pharmacist all clinical inquiries.
• Set realistic customer expectations as to wait times.
• Locate and cash out prescriptions and any ancillary items.
• Ensure customers requiring counseling are referred to the Pharmacist.
• Maintain and control the cash register in the dispensary.
• Adhere to confidentiality and privacy requirements.
• Receive new and repeat prescription orders in accordance with SOPs.
• Prepare and submit orders with the exception of controlled drugs.
• Answer telephone and refer to a pharmacist when necessary.
