Job summary

Neighbourly Pharmacy in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. You will support pharmacists, greet customers, and help with entering, labeling, and packaging prescriptions while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The role involves inventory management, clerical tasks, and contributing to daily pharmacy operations. The position offers a 40-hour workweek with a schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Previous central fill pharmacy experience and knowledge of Synmed and Pacmed are preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy witha preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business is preferred.
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
• Skilled in using Kroll and highly accurate and efficient in prescription data entry.
• Experience with Pacmed and Synmed systems is considered an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
