Job summary

Sobeys Inc. is hiring a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Canadian pharmacy team. You will support prescription processing, patient interactions, and medication fulfillment across banners like Sobeys, Safeway, FreshCo, and more.

The role focuses on accuracy, patient care, and collaboration with pharmacy staff in a fast-paced environment. Preferred qualifications include a Pharmacy Assistant Diploma and previous pharmacy experience.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Assistant Diploma is required.
• Previous pharmacy experience is an asset.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble prescriptions and enter data accurately.
• Process customer transactions (receiving and dispensing prescriptions).
• Handle in-person and telephone refill requests and document deliveries.
• Promote Profile programs to patients.
• Perform compounding tasks as required.
• Assemble pill packs.
• File prescriptions, manage stock, order supplies and keep areas clean.
• Create and receive drug orders.
• Schedule clinical services (medication reviews, health risk assessments, disease state management).
• Oversee BTC management and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Handle administrative duties including cycle counts, narcotic counts and returns.
• Adhere to company standards and assist with other pharmacy operations as needed.

Here’s Where You’ll Have An Impact

• Prescription assembly – data entry
• Process customer transactions (receive and release prescriptions)
• Receive in-person and telephone refill requests and record deliveries
• Promote Profile programs
• Compounding
• Pill Pack Assembly
• Filing prescriptions, ordering and replenishing supplies, cleaning
• Drug order creation and receiving
• Schedule professional clinical services (i.e. medication reviews, health risk assessments, disease state managements etc.)
• BTC management
• Administrative Duties: cycle counts, narcotic counts, return to stocks, TML’s, manual third parties
• Adhere to and implement all applicable company standards
• Assist with other pharmacy operations as required

What You Bring To The Table

• Preferred: Pharmacy Assistant Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institute
• Previous pharmacy experience is an asset
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Adhere to and implement all applicable company standards
