Job summary

Fraser Health Authority is seeking casual Pharmacy Assistants IA for Crosstown Clinic, Downtown Community Health Centre and Hope to Health Centre in Vancouver, BC. Community pharmacy experience or interest in working with marginalized Mental Health and Substance Use populations is required.

Under supervision, you will assist with medication dispensing, non-sterile compounding, packaging and distribution, maintain stock levels and perform clerical duties to support patient care teams.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, count, measure, and fill medication containers; assist in distribution to patient care units.
• Compound non-sterile pharmaceutical products per protocols.
• Repackage medications into unit-of-use format and maintain records.
• Maintain wardstock and validate selections for accuracy.
• Maintain department inventory and wardstock quantities for medications.
• Identify outdated drugs for return or destruction based on expiry dates.
• Maintain tidiness and order of work areas; stock labels, containers, and glassware.
• Perform related clerical duties such as calls, filing, and record maintenance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Detailed Overview

Under the general supervision of the Coordinator, Pharmacy Services or designate, assists with medication dispensing by measuring, non‑sterile compounding, packaging, and distributing medications. Maintains stock levels and performs clerical duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, count, measure, and fill both patient‑specific and non‑patient‑specific medication containers. Assist in the distribution of medications to patient care units and maintain appropriate records.
• Compound non‑sterile pharmaceutical products according to established protocols.
• Repackage medications into unit‑of‑use format and maintain records.
• Maintain appropriate quantities of wardstock medications and validate accuracy of selections by other staff.
• Maintain pharmacy department inventory and wardstock quantities for non‑controlled and controlled medications.
• Identify outdated drugs to be returned or destroyed based on lot expiry dates.
• Maintain department work areas by ensuring tidiness and order. Stock pharmaceuticals, labels, containers, and glassware in accordance with procedures and standards.
• Perform related clerical duties such as answering telephone calls, filing, and maintaining medication and prescription records.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience

Grade 12, graduation from a recognized Pharmacy Assistant course or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
