Job summary

McKesson Canada is seeking a detail-oriented shipping/dispensing associate to provide exemplary customer service and manage pharmacy operations including dispensing, billing, and shipping. You will create patient files, schedule shipments, and ensure timely delivery while adhering to SOPs and regulatory requirements.

The role involves collaboration with healthcare professionals, handling multi-temperature environments, and lifting up to 22 pounds.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge: Secondary School Diploma or High School Diploma.
  • Bachelor of Science, or other pharmacy relevant post-secondary degree is an asset.
  • Previous work experience in a retail pharmacy or warehouse setting is an asset.
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of dispensing, billing, shipping.
  • Understanding of various types of specialty medication.
  • Knowledge of Kroll is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exemplary customer service meeting the standards of McKesson Canada.
  • Create patient files in pharmacy software including Kroll.
  • Manage site calendars, appointment changes, dispensing and shipping schedules.
  • Accurately dispensing medications to ensure arrival to the appropriate destination within timelines.
  • Billing prescriptions through pharmacy software ensuring all required documentation is adequate and appropriate.
  • Adherence to all relevant guidelines including SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Patient follow-up calls for outstanding accounts and refills and shipment scheduling.
  • Packaging medications according to specifications for shipment to customer.
  • Complete required paperwork for all courier shipments and ensure freights are ready for pick up.
  • Maintain a clean and safe shipping and receiving area; coordinate pick up/deliveries with couriers.

Section A - Specific Responsibilities:
  • Provide exemplary customer service meeting the standards of McKesson Canada;
  • customer interaction is largely done via phone and email Creating patient files in pharmacy software including Kroll
  • Managing site calendars, appointment changes, dispensing and shipping schedules
  • Accurately dispensing medications to ensure arrival to the appropriate destination within timelines
  • Understanding third party billing and resolving issues by contacting adjudicators and plan administrators for resolutions
  • Billing prescriptions through pharmacy software ensuring all required documentation is adequate and appropriate including (but not limited to) accounts receivables, dosage and dosing intervals, third party billing restrictions, scheduled appointment dates, clinic locations, copayment management, coordination of benefits, and assignment of benefits
  • Accurately scheduling and dispensing medications to ensure arrival to the appropriate destination on time
  • Adherence to all relevant guidelines including the established Standard Operating Procedures of McKesson and all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Developing and maintaining professional relationships with external and internal contacts, healthcare professionals, stakeholders, clients, reimbursement coordinators, provincial ministries and private payers
  • Patient follow-up calls for outstanding accounts and refills and shipment scheduling
  • Ensuring that all medical questions are referred to a Pharmacist when interacting with patients
  • Packaging medications according to specifications for shipment to customer
  • Other duties, including receiving and inventory management and reconciliation, as assigned by the supervising Pharmacists / Supervisor
  • Perform day to day shipping, receiving, and packaging of pharmaceutical products as per the Standard Operating Procedures
  • Printing labels/waybills, prepare products and invoice for shipping
  • Check orders and waybills and ensure products being packed are accurate as per pack out instructions
  • Able to perform tasks in multi-temperature environments
  • Maintain a clean and safe shipping and receiving area in accordance with SOP and coordinate pick up/deliveries with different couriers where applicable
  • Complete required paperwork for all courier/carrier shipments and make sure freights are ready for pick up at specified pickup window allocated
  • Actively monitors on hand shipping materials and supplies as well as goods received in warehouse
  • Inventory management including, but not limited to, receiving, and organizing delivered goods, ensuring quantity received matches the invoice and notifying the Manager/Supervisor of any discrepancies (Site Specific)
  • Tracking shipments and communicating with couriers and clients on delivery issues (Site Specific)
  • Assisting with shipment/delivery receival and escalating receival concerns or issues as required.
Section B - Key Requirements :

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and strong attention to detail abilities
  • Ability to learn new software programs.
  • Knowledge of Kroll is an asset
  • Organizational, time management and teamwork skills
  • Accountable and result-oriented
  • This position requires a significant degree of taking direction quickly, self-starting and independence
  • This position requires considerable amount of physical work including, but not limited to, climbing, lifting, walking stooping, standing for extended periods of time, and handling materials.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 22 pounds independently as well as potentially greater weights in a team-lift environment
  • Effective communication, teamwork, multitasking with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent comprehensive skills and ability to learn new tasks
  • Experience : At least 1 years in a retail pharmacy/hospital setting.
  • Experience in specialty pharmacy setting an asset, but not required
Section C- Supervision and Communication:
  • Proficient in English Oral and Written Communication.
  • Multilingualism is an asset

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position $38,000 - $50,600
