Why this role is important?

Summary:

To assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, assist in the delivery of pharmacy services, and participate in the maintenance and operations of the Pharmacy as per the Pharmacy Standards of Practice, providing superior, timely, and pleasant service to customers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Customer Service: Greet customers promptly, gather prescription information, and refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
• Perform duties according to assigned roles and prioritize tasks accordingly.
• Set realistic customer expectations regarding wait times.
• Locate, cash out prescriptions and ancillary items, and ensure customer privacy and confidentiality.

Administration:

• Receive and process new and repeat prescriptions following SOPs.
• Prepare and submit orders, excluding controlled drugs and narcotics.
• Manage third-party billing, online and manual accounts.
• Answer calls, manage incoming faxes, and assist with call backs.
• File documentation accurately as per standards.

Prescription Workflow:

• Assist in prescription preparation following company standards.
• Enter data for new prescriptions and manage refill requests.
• Select, count, measure, package, and label prescriptions according to standards.
• Maintain accurate data within pharmacy systems.

Skills & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma; pharmacy assistant credited course preferred.
• Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
• Organizational skills, multitasking ability, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
