Why this role is important?

Summary:

Assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, support pharmacy services, and participate in the maintenance and operations of the pharmacy per the Pharmacy Standards of Practice. Provide superior, timely, and friendly service to customers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Customer Service:
   • Greet customers promptly and gather prescription information according to standards.
   • Perform duties based on assigned roles.
   • Refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
   • Set realistic wait time expectations for customers.
   • Locate and process prescriptions and ancillary items.
   • Refer customers needing counseling to the pharmacist.
   • Manage the cash register in the dispensary.
   • Maintain confidentiality and privacy.
2. Administration:
   • Handle new and repeat prescriptions following SOPs.
   • Prepare and submit orders, excluding controlled substances.
   • Manage third-party billing and accounts.
   • Answer calls and refer to pharmacists as needed.
   • Manage incoming faxes according to standards.
   • Assist with call-backs and document filing.
3. Prescription Workflow:
   • Assist in prescription preparation and professional services.
   • Enter data for prescriptions and manage refills.
   • Select, count, package, and label medications per standards.
   • Maintain accurate data within pharmacy systems.

Skills & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma.
• Pharmacy Assistant diploma preferred.
• Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
• Organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail.
