Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, Pharmacy aides perform administrative and organizational tasks in a pharmaceutical setting. They create and maintain patient files, perform basic tasks within the pharmacy software, speak to clients for collecting information, and perform credit card handling as part of the pharmacy team.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist / registered pharmacy technician in maintaining federal, provincial, and local laws, accrediting body standards, and Policies and Procedures (P&Ps).
- Handle inbound and outbound phone calls, collect information for client accounts and profiles, and assist customers.
- Work directly with patient data; create patient profiles in NAV, update pickup bins, charge, and post orders for shipment.
- Maintain pharmacy records, including filing and documenting required information on dispensing records.
- Communicate appropriately with all members of the healthcare team.
- Schedule, track, and process prescription refills in Kroll.
- Fax doctors for refills.
- Document activities according to P&Ps using required paperwork (logs).
- Perform physical inventory cycle counts as required.
- Assist pharmacists / pharmacy assistants in preparing and labeling medications/devices as legally permitted.
- Ensure correct labeling of products and proper selection and preparation as per prescriptions.
- Place orders for inventory from Mckesson (via Pharma Click) and DEX Wholesale (internally).
- Update inventory levels in the central database (ERP) by creating purchase orders and receiving orders.
- Create new drug cards in NAV for new products.
- Establish and adjust stock levels and order quantities using NAV and Kroll analysis.
- Ensure the pharmacy is fully stocked with necessary medications.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and update counts in NAV and Kroll, communicating with the purchasing team.
- Quarantine expired items and coordinate with the purchasing team for adjustments.
- Assist in handling drug/product recalls, recovering stock from patients, returning for credit, and adjusting system inventory counts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
Other Skills And Abilities
- Organized, disciplined, with strong computer skills.
