Urgently Hiring

Central Alberta Co-op is hiring a temporary casual Pharmacist (Maternity Leave Coverage) at the Timberlands Pharmacy in Red Deer to deliver exceptional patient care and service. You’ll dispense prescriptions, counsel patients, administer immunizations, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting pharmacy staff and business growth. Position: Pharmacist

Term: This is a temporary contract from approximately mid-May 2025 to June 2026 (maternity leave coverage).

Casual: Less than 24 hours per week.

Availability: Weekdays and weekends - mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

Responsibilities

  1. Acknowledge customers promptly and professionally.
  2. Demonstrate warmth, empathy, and compassion towards the customer.
  3. Accurately and timely dispense prescriptions, including obtaining, interpreting, and evaluating all prescriptions to ensure therapeutic appropriateness, cost-effectiveness, accuracy, and completeness.
  4. Counsel and provide professional advice to patients on prescription and OTC products to provide excellent customer service and maximize loyalty.
  5. Administer injections/immunizations as requested to maximize patient care.
  6. Ensure compliance with company policies, professional standards, and applicable laws and regulations, including maintaining complete and accurate documentation as required by the College of Pharmacy, drug plans, and company programs.
  7. Supervise Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians.
  8. Provide patient-focused care, including clinical services such as disease state management, medication reviews, initiation of care plans, follow-up, and documentation.
  9. Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the department.
  10. Assist and complete financial documents as requested by administration.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

  1. Registered with the Alberta College of Pharmacy.
  2. 2-3 years of experience, including conducting and billing Clinical Services.
  3. Injection certified.
  4. Preference given to candidates with Additional Prescribing Authority (APA) designation.
  5. Knowledge of Kroll pharmacy system is an asset.
  6. Interest or certification in geriatrics, diabetes, travel, and smoking cessation.
  7. Strong customer/patient satisfaction orientation.
  8. Team player with excellent communication and organizational skills.
