Job summary

The North West Company is seeking a Pharmacist Manager for Muskehki/Valu-Lots Pharmacy, 910 Wall Street, Winnipeg, MB. You will lead pharmacy operations in central fill and retail settings, ensuring compliance, safety, and high-quality patient care.

Reporting to the Director, Pharmacy Operations, Health Products & Services, you will mentor staff, manage workflows, and drive community health initiatives. Experience with NIHB and provincial regulations is valued.

Qualifications

  • Pharmacist with active licensure and CE requirements.
  • Experience leading a pharmacy team preferred.
  • Knowledge of NIHB claims and provincial regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Pharmacist Manager duties across central fill and front-facing store operations.
  • Ensure accurate, safe prescription filling and adherence to regulations.
  • Manage pharmacy staff, including orientation, training and accountability.
  • Maintain relationships with healthcare professionals and community partners.
  • Provide medication information and collaborate with healthcare teams.
  • Prepare reports on performance and operations.

The North West Company (NWC) is hiring a Pharmacist Manager for the Muskehki/Valu-Lots Pharmacy located at 910 Wall Street in Winnipeg, MB. In this leadership role, you will be an integral part of a collaborative healthcare team working to improve the health outcomes of patients in Winnipeg and remote communities across Northern Manitoba, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories.

As Pharmacist Manager, you will lead with a patient-focused, outcome-based approach, guiding your team to deliver trusted healthcare solutions and services. Your enhanced scope of practice will support meaningful, measurable improvements in the lives of the patients you serve.

Dual Practice Setting

This location operates as both a central fill pharmacy—supporting remote NorthMart and Northern store pharmacies—and a traditional, front-facing retail pharmacy serving the Winnipeg community. You will lead pharmacy operations across both settings, ensuring optimal performance, compliance, and patient care delivery.

Work Hours

Pharmacy hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM, and Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Your Role
  • Comply with the Provincial Pharmaceutical Regulations, ensuring adherence to Provincial Practice Standards and Guidelines within pharmacy;
  • Adhere to the Provincial Drug Formulary and advise the Director, Pharmacy Operations, about any changes in Provincial Regulations.
  • Manage pharmacy staff, including orientation, training, employee accountabilities, and leadership;
  • Ensure all prescriptions are filled accurately, efficiently, and safely and comply with NIHB Claims Submission;
  • Ensure compliance with Store Operating Procedures as defined by HP&S division, and implement and maintain Operational Standards;
  • Provide patient-focused, positive outcome care, with strong efforts to collaborate with healthcare professionals and community agencies within district. Strong emphasis on educating the community;
  • Prepare reports and assist in the supervision of performance of pharmacy staff.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other healthcare professionals and community access workers;
  • Provide medication information to all health professionals and consult with healthcare team on various therapies;
  • Recognize and develop business opportunities, and understand the importance of building and nurturing relationships within the community, including Healthcare Centers, Nursing Stations, and Physician Clinics.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy;
  • Licensed by the Manitoba Provincial College of Pharmacists;
  • Maintain Continuing Education Requirements for Provincial licensure;
  • Possess effective communication skills to counsel, educate and instruct patients; staff and other healthcare professionals;
  • Experience with Pharmacy software programs (Kroll an asset);
  • Additional Certifications/Accreditations in professional disease management an asset;
  • Previous management experience preferred;
  • Experience processing third party benefits – NIHB - is an asset;
  • Ability to effectively lead, mentor, and manage a pharmacy team; and
  • Working in an environment with a high prescription volume, blister packaging and with a patient population, whose demographic has a high incidence of diabetes will be considered.
