Job description

Your Opportunity:

The Rimbey Hospital supports 23 acute care beds focused on rural general medicine, as well as 84 continuing care beds. The Rimbey Pharmacy team provides distribution and clinical services to acute care, continuing care, and emergency patients at the site, along with remote support for sites in Central Zone. Rimbey Hospital offers a supportive, multidisciplinary environment for pharmacists, where they provide specialized and general medicine care as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team. The pharmacy department is supported by pharmacy technicians and assistants working towards their full scope of practice, enabling pharmacists to focus on clinical activities and patient engagement.

Description:

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and ongoing, and provide assessment, intervention, and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems. You will also oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP)

Additional Requirements:

  • Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacists is an asset. Candidates without APA are expected to obtain it within 6 months, subject to eligibility.
  • Experience in hospital or direct patient care providing medication management services.
  • Recent experience in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Experience with computerized medication order entry and drug distribution systems such as unit dose.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Self-directed learning and continuing education.
  • Good time management, multitasking, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Rural hospital experience is an asset.
