Qualifications

About The Opportunity

Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacist is responsible to ensure safe and effective drug therapy optimizations and management for geriatric patients. The Geriatric Pharmacist will be a part of a multidisciplinary seniors care team and will participate in all aspects of care for patients over the age of 65 including comprehensive medication reviews, prescribing/deprescribing, pharmacokinetic monitoring, and is a steward for all appropriate medication use. The candidate will also engage in quality committees, quality improvement and research initiatives. Further, the candidate will provide educational sessions to other health care professionals, as well as precept pharmacy learners.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or an entry level Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy from a CCAPP (or similar standard) accredited university required
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program preferred
  • Licensed to practice Pharmacy in the Province of Nova Scotia
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • Minimum two years experience in clinical practice in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of drugs and therapeutics
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make accurate and timely recommendations regarding safe and cost-effective use of drugs
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Permanent / 100% FTE / 75 Hours Bi-weekly

Compensation And Benefits

$47.03 - $58.77 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan
