Job description

Stafford Pharmacy & Home Healthcare is an independent pharmacy embracing the expanded scope of practice for community pharmacists in Alberta. We also provide compounding services for both human and veterinary patients. We are a destination for home healthcare products with a registered nurse and home healthcare consultants on staff.

We are currently seeking our next team member: Clinical Pharmacist.

Your clinical community pharmacist duties will include but are not limited to:

  1. Working collaboratively with patients’ physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure positive drug therapy outcomes
  2. Conducting health screening
  3. Engaging in community outreach programs
  4. Conducting in-pharmacy immunization clinics
  5. Performing medication reviews and patient care plans as per the provincial standards
  6. Applying the full scope of practice as a clinical pharmacist in Alberta
  7. Patient counseling on the selection and use of non-prescription medication
  8. Administering vaccinations and medications for injection – subcutaneous, intramuscular
  9. Ensuring accurate pharmacotherapy
  10. Supervising and consulting with registered technicians compounding prescribed pharmaceutical products for both human and veterinary patients
  11. Advising patients and healthcare professionals on medication indications, contraindications, adverse effects, drug interactions, and dosages
  12. Maintaining medication profiles of patients, including discussions, follow-ups, and communication with other healthcare practitioners
  13. Supervising the proper preparation, packaging, distribution, and storage of vaccines, serums, biologicals, and other pharmaceuticals

Requirements:

  1. Licensed and in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy
  2. Strong sense of professionalism
  3. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  4. English language fluency
  5. Fluency in any other language is an asset
  6. Strong problem-solving skills
  7. Superior patient and physician relation skills
  8. Injection Certification
  9. Advanced Prescribing Accreditation (APA) is preferred but we will support the pursuit of APA
  10. Excellent leadership and performance management skills are assets
  11. Interest in custom compounding is required; experience is an asset but not mandatory
  12. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent (Libre Office, Open Office, etc.)
  13. Experience with Kroll Pharmacy dispensing software is an asset
  14. Interest in precepting students from both Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Technician programs
  15. Motivated to continue learning and expanding skills
