POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Pharmacy Services, the temporary full time pharmacist will provide clinical coverage to an inpatient medicine unit. Other clinical areas will be covered as needed.

Inpatient medicine unit pharmacists also attend multi-disciplinary rounds, program council(s), oversee therapeutic drug monitoring, provide drug information and mentor students.

Pharmacists at the Brant Community Healthcare System are not required to work overnight and are not required to participate in an on-call rotation. Pharmacy technicians at the Brant Community Healthcare System are responsible for all of the medication distribution functions.

Note: Candidates that are interested will be transferred to a Permanent Part-Time at the end of the contract.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm D degree.
  • Licensed (Part A) Pharmacist in the Province of Ontario.
  • Experience in an inpatient hospital pharmacy environment preferred (but not required).
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
  • Self-motivated and keeps current with medication and therapeutic knowledge.
  • Good computer and keyboarding skills utilizing PC applications for reports and special assignments.
  • Practices in accordance with relevant legislation, CSHP standards and other relevant practice documents, professional code of ethics and department and hospital policies.
  • Able to participate in evening shift (3-11 pm) and weekend rotation. Current rotation requires the pharmacist to work one evening shift and 2-3 weekend shifts in an 8 week rotation.
