Job summary

Southern Health-Santé Sud in Winkler is seeking a Pharmacist to provide services in accordance with departmental policies and provincial statutes, including drug procurement, distribution and clinical pharmacy activities. The role reports to the Manager of Pharmacy as part of Boundary Trails Health Centre & Affiliated Sites.

This term position requires hospital pharmacy experience, valid CPhM registration or eligibility, and may involve travel to regional facilities.

Qualifications

• Current CPhM membership or eligibility to register with the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM).
• CSHP membership is an asset.
• Hospital pharmacy residency completion is an asset.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Pharmacy, the Pharmacist provides services in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures, professional regulations and standards and Provincial and Federal statutes. Principle functions include drug procurement, drug distribution, and clinical pharmacy activities. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience

• Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
• Previous knowledgeable and experience with sterile product preparation is required.
• Basic computer experience is required including typing skills (minimum 40wpm).

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency is an asset.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

• Current practicing membership or eligibility for registration and membership with the College of Pharmacist of Manitoba (CPhM).
• Membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacy (CSHP) is an asset.

• Demonstrated ability to perform basic math and accounting skills.

• Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.

• Maintains current knowledge of the Hospital Disaster and Contingency Plans and the requirements of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Workplace Health and Safety.
• Adhere to all safety and health regulations and safe work practices.
• May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
• Will be required to travel to other regional facilities as the position duties may require.
