Why this role is important?
SUMMARY:
Manage pharmacy operations while on duty, including providing consultations to customers and healthcare providers, practicing to full scope in professional services, dispensing medication, and assisting with dispensary maintenance.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pharmacy and Customer Service
Greet all customers approaching the pharmacy
Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory, and legal requirements
Ensure privacy requirements are met, including confidentiality and consent management
Provide counseling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products
Practice to the full extent of your professional scope and services
Be clearly identifiable to the public
Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all dispensed prescriptions
Communicate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate customer care
Maintain records as required by legislation, standards, and policies
Workflow and Inventory Management:
Control access to the dispensary respecting inventory and confidentiality
Review and maintain workflow queues daily
Regularly review 'will call' bins per SOPs
Check for expired inventory
Oversee stock levels and medication orders from wholesalers
Ensure documentation and control of controlled substances meet legal requirements and report to authorities as needed
Operations:
Maintain a professional appearance of workstations and areas
Assist with financial reporting as appropriate
Respond to store communications via in-store web
File incident reports for medication or privacy issues involving customers or staff
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Ability to think independently and make decisions
Coordinate and delegate tasks; coach colleagues
Proven ability to grow the business and lead by example
Exceptional customer service skills
Strong professionalism and customer relations
Problem-solving skills with experience in action planning
Proficiency with pharmacy systems and personal computing
Adherence to health and safety procedures
Complete mandatory and ongoing training as required
