Why this role is important?

SUMMARY:

This role involves managing pharmacy operations during your shift, providing consultations to customers and healthcare providers, practicing to the full scope of professional services, dispensing medication, and assisting in dispensary maintenance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage pharmacy and customer service operations
• Greet and acknowledge all customers approaching the pharmacy
• Operate within federal, provincial, and legal requirements
• Maintain customer confidentiality and manage consent appropriately
• Provide counselling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products
• Practice to the full extent of your professional scope and capabilities
• Be identifiable to the public as a pharmacy professional
• Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all dispensed prescriptions
• Communicate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate customer care
• Keep all required records compliant with legislation and standards

Workflow and Inventory Management:

• Control access to the dispensary to protect inventory and patient confidentiality
• Review and manage workflow queues daily
• Regularly check 'will call' bins according to SOPs
• Monitor stock for expired inventory
• Oversee stock levels and medication orders from suppliers
• Ensure compliance with regulations regarding controlled substances and report to authorities as required

Operations:

• Maintain a professional image in all pharmacy areas
• Participate in financial reporting as needed
• Respond to store communications via the in-store web
• File incident reports for medication or privacy issues involving customers or staff

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

• Ability to think independently and make decisions
