Why this role is important?

Summary:

To manage pharmacy operations during your shift, including providing consultations to customers and healthcare providers, practicing to full scope in delivering professional services, dispensing medication, and assisting in dispensary maintenance.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide pharmacy and customer service, acknowledging all customers approaching the pharmacy.
• Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory, and legal requirements.
• Ensure privacy requirements are met, including confidentiality and consent management.
• Offer counseling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products.
• Practice to the full extent of your expanded scope with professional services, within your capability.
• Be clearly identifiable to the public.
• Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed.
• Communicate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive customer care.
• Maintain all required records in accordance with legislation, standards, and policies.

Workflow and Inventory Management:

• Control access to the dispensary respecting inventory and patient confidentiality.
• Review and maintain workflow queues daily.
• Regularly review 'will call' bins as per SOPs.
• Review stock for expired inventory.
• Oversee stock levels and medication orders from wholesalers.
• Ensure compliance with documentation and control of controlled substances, reporting to authorities as required.

Operations:

• Maintain a professional image at entry/pickup workstations, counseling areas, and work islands.
• Participate in financial reporting as appropriate.
• Respond to store communications via the in-store web.
• File incident reports for any medication or privacy incidents involving customers or staff.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

• Ability to think independently and make decisions on issues or problems.
• Plan, coordinate, delegate, and coach pharmacy colleagues.
• Proven ability to drive business growth and support enterprise programs.
• Commitment to exceptional customer service.
• Strong customer relations skills and professionalism.
• Effective problem-solving skills with experience in action plan execution.
• Knowledge of pharmacy systems and personal computing skills are assets.
• Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Complete mandatory training and ongoing education as needed.
