Qualifications

Registered Nurse

Pelican Falls First Nations High School

Sioux Lookout, Ontario

Pelican Falls First Nations High School (PFFNHS) in Sioux Lookout requires one full-time Registered Nurse to provide health care services and support to students attending PFFNHS. This position will have a modified work schedule through the school calendar, salary will be prorated over the full year (26 pay periods).

Responsibilities:

Provide medical health services to students at the Pelican Falls Site
Assess medical needs of students, determine treatment plans, provide follow up support
Refer complex needs to physician or other health professional(s)
Administer medications, provide first aid, assist in emergency situations etc.
Maintain/update on-site clinic and confidential student medical records
Work in collaboration with nursing support at the Wellness Centre
Maintain a safe, clean, welcoming and positive environment at all times
Prepare evaluations and summaries of students including recommendations
Develop or assist in developing treatment plans for students
Work closely with PFFNHS, PFC and On-Call staff to support students who are “at risk” or “in crisis”
Provide daily or weekly check-ins with students as required
Participate in team meetings as required
Liaise with other organizations, partners and/or professionals
Respond to parent, teacher and or student inquiries
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

· Registered Nurse or Bachelor of Science in Nursing is mandatory;

· Must be in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario

· Certified in CPR and First Aid

· Ability to assess and provide health care needs to students

· Knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture, traditions and lifestyles

· Excellent leadership, motivation, and problem-solving skills

· Fluency in Oji-Cree, Cree or Ojibway is an asset

· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently

· Able to work effectively and collaboratively with others

· Strong communication skills

· Valid Class “G” Driver’s License

Salary: Salary Level to commensurate with education and experience
