Petroleum Inspector

Intertek is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to join our Caleb Brett team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This position offers a great opportunity to develop a versatile career in the Inspection and Petroleum Industry.

The Petroleum Inspector is responsible for performing volume measurements, sampling, calculations, documentation, and reporting to provide an independent, accurate, and comprehensive assessment of the quantity and quality of materials.

What you'll do

  • Perform visual observations, volume measurements, temperature checks, and sampling of commodities in lines, tanks, ships, and other vessels.
  • Understand and follow Caleb Brett safety procedures.
  • Coordinate with terminal, transport, and company personnel to ensure smooth operations.
  • Organize and complete jobs efficiently, submitting reports and samples promptly.
  • Maintain safety, quality, and environmental standards, exercising good judgment and diplomacy.
  • Complete custody transfer surveys of commodities transferred via rail, truck, shore tanks, and ships.
  • Carry out routine equipment calibrations and checks.
  • Verify results, document findings accurately, and communicate effectively.
  • Assist and learn from experienced inspectors.
  • Maintain organized work areas and equipment.

What it takes to be successful:

  • IFIA (TIC) certification is a plus.
  • Experience in petroleum or inspection industry is an asset but not required.

  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Good eyesight for detailed work.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Physical fitness for lifting, walking, standing, reaching, bending, climbing, and driving.
