Champion Petfoods is expanding! We are seeking a Product Development (PD) Technician for Wet, Fresh & Treats to join our rapidly growing team in Alberta.

The role centers on hands-on prototyping, accurate data capture, and coordinating trials to support development. You will document results, maintain SOPs and records, prepare materials, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to drive efficient project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of food product development and laboratory techniques.
• Ability to prepare samples and support hands-on development and trials.

Responsibilities

• Execute hands-on prototyping and bench development to meet project objectives.
• Accurately capture and record experimental data and results.
• Draft, update and maintain SOPs, specifications, and records for consistency.
• Prepare materials and support internal trials, including pilot activities.
• Coordinate logistics for palatability testing and sample tracking.
• Procure ingredients and benchmarking samples for development work.
• Support benchmarking and competitive product evaluations.
• Ensure safety, quality, and lab best practices.
