Personal Support Worker, Veterans Care Program - 1 position

Location: Veterans Care Program, Parkwood Institute Main - London, ON

Job Type: Job Share

Salary Range: $29.61 - $29.93 per hour

The hours of work reflect current scheduling arrangements and are subject to change by the Employer.

The Veterans Care Program supports war service Veterans affected by chronic illnesses, physical and mental health issues, including dementia. We aim to promote independence and full potential within a safe environment. Families are integral to our care team, supported in adjusting to changing needs. The Personal Support Worker will assist the interdisciplinary team in providing support with daily activities under supervision of a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse.

Essential Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Personal Support Worker Certificate Program from an accredited institution
  • Proof of registration with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) for external applicants
  • Knowledge of safety culture in healthcare per OHSA standards
  • Experience with long-term and continuing care patients
  • Ability to establish positive interpersonal relationships
  • Teamwork skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to meet job demands, including heavy lifting, bending, standing, walking, pushing, pulling
  • Flexibility, observational skills, organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Secondary (High) School Diploma
  • Proficiency in French (asset)
  • Experience with dementia care
  • Basic computer skills
  • GPA training
