The City of Thunder Bay seeks a dedicated Personal Support Worker for Pioneer Ridge, a municipally operated long-term care home. You’ll join a compassionate team serving 150 residents in a home-like setting with strong staff-to-resident ratios and opportunities for career growth.

You’ll provide individualized care under professional standards, participate in care planning, and contribute to a culture of recognition and ongoing development.

Qualifikationen

• Completion of a recognized Personal Support Worker program approved by the Ministry of Long-Term Care.
• Enrolled at a college or university in the registered practical nursing or registered nursing program.
• Genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly.
• Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Aufgaben

• Provide basic nursing care based on each resident’s care plan and within the established nursing program.
• Encourage and support resident participation in activities of daily living.
• Provide input into development and maintenance of resident care plans and participate in care conferences.
• Report changes in residents’ condition to the Registered Nurse and document as per policy.
• Maintain a safe environment for residents and staff and respond to emergencies and safety procedures.

How You’ll Support the Team

In this role, you’ll provide individualized care in accordance with professional and legislative standards, and Pioneer Ridge’s vision, mission, and caring philosophy. You’ll participate as a member of a multidisciplinary care team and have key accountabilities such as:

• Provide basic nursing care based on each resident’s developed care plan and within the framework of an established nursing program.
• Encourage and support resident participation in activities of daily living.
• Provide input into the development and maintenance of resident care plans and participate in resident care conferences.
• Report changes in residents’ physical and mental condition to the Registered Nurse and document as per policy.
• Participate in maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff, demonstrating an appropriate response to emergencies and safety procedures.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

Here’s what will help you succeed as a Personal Support Worker at Pioneer Ridge:

• Successful completion of a recognized personal support worker program approved by the Ministry of Long-Term Care; or
