Job summary

Sienna Senior Living in Bradford, Ontario is seeking a Personal Support Worker for a temporary part-time evening role (30 hours per week, 2:30 pm–10:30 pm) at Bradford Valley Community. You will provide day-to-day resident support, build relationships, and help residents live with comfort, dignity, and respect.

Requirements include completion of a PSW program, compassionate nature, ability to perform ADLs, and willingness to undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check; legal eligibility to work in Canada

Qualifications

• Completed PSW program from an approved college or private institution.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada or have valid work permit.
• Willing to undergo Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Ability to provide bedside care and ADL assistance.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and assistance with activities of daily living.
• Assist residents with mobility devices and communication needs.
• Support residents with cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.
• Encourage participation in Resident Experience Team programs.

You will be a welcomed member of the Long Term Care team, working in a fast-paced environment where you will make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. As a Personal Support Worker, you’ll form a deep understanding of your residents and their living experience. You will build relationships with the residents and their family members, offering a variety of support options and program choices that enrich their daily health and well being. As an individual and part of a wider team, you will be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day.

Provide Resident Supervision and Assistance

• support residents with their activities of daily living including eating, dressing, hygiene and grooming as per residents’ individual plans of care

Provide Resident Care and Services

• aid residents with respect to their communication and connections by encouraging them to wear individual sensory aids such as glasses, hearing aides, etc.
• With additional prescribed training, administer specific medication to residents under the supervision of a registered health professional
• Ensure residents have constant and easy access to mobility or assistive devices such as canes, walkers, call bells, etc.
• provide ongoing cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual support; as well as oral and dental care
• encourage residents to participate in programs offered by the Resident Experience Team, whether individual or in groups

Who You Are:

• You are compassionate and dedicated to meaningful work that supports seniors in living life fully
• You have completed a Personal Support Worker program from an approved college or private institution.
• You are detailed-oriented and proficient in procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatment and can provide bedside care to residents
• You exercise tact and diplomacy in working with seniors, their families and general visitors
