Job description

Carecor is looking for dedicated and compassionate Personal Support Workers to join our team in the Barrie Area for Long-Term Care Facilities. We’re ready when you are!

Under the direction of facility nursing staff, you will perform floor and observational care duties to promote the physical, social, and emotional well-being of patients. Each assignment involves a full 8-12 hour shift at one facility. This is a casual position with flexible shifts.

Job Qualifications

Our high standards, recognized by Accreditation Canada, reflect our commitment to quality patient care and hiring practices.

  • Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate from an Ontario Community College or approved private career college, with successful completion of the final exam by the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC);
  • OR an approved Ontario Board of Education PSW Program;
  • Must have clinical or work experience as a PSW within the past two years, preferably in LTC;
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including:
    • Push/pull up to 250 pounds;
    • Working at/above shoulder height;
    • Standing and walking for long periods;
    • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and crouching;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to follow care plans with minimal supervision;
  • Proof of current immunizations for MMRV, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, and hepatitis B;
  • Proof of negative two-step TB skin test within the past year or a negative chest x-ray within five years;
  • Current BCLS-HCP certification;
  • Current N95 Mask Fit Test Certificate (within 2 years);
  • Willingness to undergo a Vulnerable Sector Police Check;

Additional requirements include the ability to work at multiple locations, drive, and access to a reliable vehicle. A PSW certification with six months of Canadian work experience in acute, TCU, or LTC settings is required.

Please note: As per recent government mandates, healthcare workers must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination before employment begins.
