Job description

Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.

  1. Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  2. Complete all documentation on time, ensuring it is current and accurate, in accordance with corporate policies.
  3. Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
  4. Support resident meal services and restorative nursing efforts.
  5. Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
  6. Follow current legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures in care execution.
  7. Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
  8. Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation for all care provided, complying with legislation and internal standards.
  9. Engage in mentoring new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
  10. Participate in departmental, interdisciplinary, and resident safety meetings.
  11. Foster teamwork among shifts, staff, and adhere to the collective agreement.
  12. Follow all health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, lockout procedures, and PPE use.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English; knowledge of a second language is a plus.
  • Meet one of the following criteria:
    • Completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized institution, or
    • RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students with Year 1 completed.
  • Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
  • Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray.
  • Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
  • Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
  • VSS clearance within the past year confirming no criminal record.
