Job description

LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY***

Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.

  1. Assist the registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  2. Complete all documentation on time, and in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring that it is both current and accurate.
  3. Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
  4. Provide assistance and support with resident meal service.
  5. Provide assistance and support with restorative nursing.
  6. Coordinate activities to ensure effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
  7. Execute care in accordance with current legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
  8. Participate in agency risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
  9. Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation for all care provided, complying with legislation, regulations, and internal standards.
  10. Participate in mentoring new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
  11. Engage in departmental, interdisciplinary team, and resident safety meetings.
  12. Promote teamwork and good communication among shifts, staff, and within the framework of the collective agreement.
  13. Adhere to health and safety procedures, including:
  • Practicing proper body mechanics, especially when using computer equipment.
  • Using equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Following safety procedures for lockouts.
  • Wearing appropriate safety equipment and PPE when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English communication; proficiency in a second language is an asset.
  • Must meet one of the following criteria:
    • Successful completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized community college or school approved by the National Association of Career Colleges.
    • RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, and Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
  • Experience as a Facility PSW is considered an asset.
  • Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
  • Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
  • Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
  • VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
