Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
- Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
- Complete all documentation on time, ensuring it is current, accurate, and in accordance with corporate policies.
- Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Assist with resident meal service and restorative nursing.
- Coordinate activities necessary for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
- Perform care in compliance with legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
- Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation of care provided, adhering to legislation and regulations.
- Engage in mentoring new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
- Attend departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
- Promote teamwork and understanding among staff and adhere to health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, safety protocols, and PPE usage.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficient in verbal and written English; second language skills are an asset.
- Meet one of the following criteria:
- Completion of a Ministry of Education-approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized college or approved school.
- RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
- Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
- Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray.
- Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
- Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
- VSS clearance within the past year confirming no criminal record.
