Job description

Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.

  1. Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  2. Complete all documentation on time, ensuring it is current, accurate, and in accordance with corporate policies.
  3. Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
  4. Assist with resident meal service and restorative nursing.
  5. Coordinate activities necessary for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
  6. Perform care in compliance with legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
  7. Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
  8. Maintain timely, accurate documentation of care provided, adhering to legislation and regulations.
  9. Engage in mentoring new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
  10. Attend departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
  11. Promote teamwork and understanding among staff and adhere to health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, safety protocols, and PPE usage.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English; second language skills are an asset.
  • Meet one of the following criteria:
    • Completion of a Ministry of Education-approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized college or approved school.
    • RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
  • Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
  • Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray.
  • Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
  • Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
  • VSS clearance within the past year confirming no criminal record.
