Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.

1. Assist the registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
2. Complete all documentation on time, in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring that it is current and accurate.
3. Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
4. Provide assistance and support with resident meal service.
5. Provide assistance and support with restorative nursing.
6. Coordinate activities necessary for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
7. Execute care in accordance with legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
8. Participate in agency risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
9. Perform timely, accurate, and complete documentation for all care delivered, complying with legislation and internal requirements.
10. Participate in mentoring new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
11. Attend departmental, interdisciplinary team, and resident safety meetings.
12. Promote teamwork among shifts, staff, and within the collective agreement.
13. Adhere to health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, safety protocols, and PPE usage.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Proficient in verbal and written English; second language skills are an asset.
• Must meet one of the following:
• Completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (min. 640 hours) from a recognized institution, OR
• RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
• Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
• Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
• Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
• Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
• VSS clearance within the past year confirming no criminal record.
