Job summary

Compass Homecare in Canada is seeking a casual/part-time Personal Support Worker (PSW) for 8–12 hour overnight and weekend shifts. Earn CAD 20.00/hour plus a CAD 3.00 wage enhancement where applicable, with ongoing recruitment to support client needs.

This role focuses on personal care, ADLs, meals, medication reminders, companionship, and documentation. Flexible scheduling, paid orientation, mileage reimbursement, and a supportive, inclusive workplace culture are offered.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ontario Personal Support Worker certificate.
• NACC certification required for private career college grads.
• Equivalent credentials (RPN/RN or internationally educated) considered.
• Reliable transportation to travel between client locations.
• Access to a mobile phone and reliable internet.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within last 12 months.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Vulnerable Sector Check within last 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and mobility support.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Prepare meals and provide medication reminders.
• Light housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Accompany clients to appointments, errands and community outings.
• Provide companionship and emotional support.
• Offer respite support to families.
• Maintain accurate documentation using electronic charting systems.
• Monitor and report changes in client health or environment.
• Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive care environment.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families and healthcare team.

Position Summary

PSWs report to the Client Services Coordinator and are responsible for delivering high-quality personal care and support to clients in their homes, in accordance with individualized care plans and established standards of practice.

This is a casual/part-time position with flexible scheduling based on client needs and staff availability.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized Ontario program
• NACC certification required for private career college graduates
• Equivalent credentials (RPN, RN, or internationally educated healthcare professionals) will be considered
• Previous PSW or caregiving experience is an asset
• Reliable transportation (vehicle or public transit) to travel between client locations
• Access to a mobile phone and reliable internet connection
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray completed within the last 12 months
• Current CPR and First Aid certification from a recognized provider
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last 12 months

Successful candidates must provide proof of immunization in accordance with client and organizational requirements, including:

• COVID-19
• Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)
• Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap)
• Polio
• Varicella
• Hepatitis B
