Responsibilities

1. Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
2. Assist registered staff with nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
3. Complete all documentation accurately and timely, adhering to corporate policies.
4. Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
5. Support resident meal services and restorative nursing activities.
6. Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
7. Follow current legislation, best practices, and company policies in care execution.
8. Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
9. Maintain thorough documentation for all care provided, in compliance with legislation and regulations.
10. Mentor new staff and students, fostering educational growth.
11. Engage in departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
12. Promote teamwork and understanding among staff and adhere to health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, safety protocols, and PPE usage.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Proficient in verbal and written English; second language skills are an asset.
• Completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized institution or be an RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapist, or Physiotherapy student who has completed Year 1.
• Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
• Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
• Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
• Meet health surveillance requirements under the Public Hospitals Act.
• VSS clearance within the past year confirming no criminal record.
