Responsibilities
- Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
- Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
- Complete all documentation on time, ensuring it is current and accurate, in accordance with corporate policies.
- Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Support resident meal service and restorative nursing.
- Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
- Execute care according to legislation, best practices, and policies.
- Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
- Document all care delivered accurately and timely, complying with regulations.
- Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
- Participate in departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
- Promote teamwork and adherence to safety procedures, including PPE use and proper body mechanics.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficient in verbal and written English; second language skills are an asset.
- Meet one of the following criteria:
- Completed a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours), or
- RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students with Year 1 completed.
- Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
- Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
- Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
- Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
- VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
