Responsibilities
  1. Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
  2. Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  3. Complete all documentation on time, ensuring it is current and accurate, in accordance with corporate policies.
  4. Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
  5. Support resident meal service and restorative nursing.
  6. Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
  7. Execute care according to legislation, best practices, and policies.
  8. Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
  9. Document all care delivered accurately and timely, complying with regulations.
  10. Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
  11. Participate in departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
  12. Promote teamwork and adherence to safety procedures, including PPE use and proper body mechanics.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English; second language skills are an asset.
  • Meet one of the following criteria:
    • Completed a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours), or
    • RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students with Year 1 completed.
  • Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
  • Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
  • Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
  • Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
  • VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
