Job description

Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.

  • Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  • Complete all documentation on time, ensuring it is current, accurate, and in accordance with corporate policies.
  • Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Assist with resident meal service and support restorative nursing activities.
  • Coordinate activities necessary for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
  • Deliver care in compliance with legislation, best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation for all care provided.
  • Mentor new staff and students, promoting educational opportunities.
  • Engage in departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
  • Foster teamwork among shifts, staff, and adhere to the collective agreement.
  • Follow health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, lockout procedures, and PPE usage.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English; second language skills are an asset.
  • Meet one of the following criteria:
    • Completed a Ministry of Education-approved PSW training program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized college or school.
    • RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapist, or Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
  • Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
  • Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
  • Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
  • Meet health surveillance requirements under the Public Hospitals Act.
  • VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
