Job Description
Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
- Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
- Complete all documentation on time, and in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring that it is both current and accurate.
- Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with RhynoCare's Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Provide assistance and support with resident meal service.
- Support restorative nursing efforts.
- Coordinate and conduct all activities necessary for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
- Execute care in accordance with current legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
- Participate in agency risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
- Perform timely, accurate, and complete documentation for all care delivered, in accordance with legislation, regulations, and internal requirements.
- Participate in mentoring new staff and students, and promote educational opportunities.
- Engage in departmental, interdisciplinary, and resident safety meetings.
- Promote teamwork and good understanding between shifts, staff, and within the collective agreement.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, lockout procedures, and PPE usage.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Proficient in verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
- Must meet one of the following criteria:
- Successful completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized community college or approved school, or
- RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, and Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
- Experience as a Facility PSW is considered an asset.
- Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
- Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid Certificates.
- Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
- Valid Criminal Record Check confirming no criminal history.
