Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
- Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
- Complete all documentation on time, in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring it is current and accurate.
- Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Provide assistance and support with resident meal service.
- Support restorative nursing efforts.
- Coordinate activities to ensure effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
- Perform care in accordance with legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
- Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation for all care provided, complying with legislation and internal policies.
- Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
- Attend departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
- Foster teamwork among shifts, staff, and adhere to the collective agreement.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, lockout procedures, and PPE usage.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficient in verbal and written English; second language skills are an asset.
- Meet one of the following criteria:
- Completed a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a community college or approved school, OR
- RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapist, or Physiotherapy student who has completed Year 1.
- Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
- Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
- Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid Certification.
- Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
- VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
