Job summary

Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.

  • Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  • Complete all documentation on time, in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring it is current and accurate.
  • Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Provide assistance and support with resident meal service.
  • Support restorative nursing efforts.
  • Coordinate activities to ensure effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
  • Perform care in accordance with legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation for all care provided, complying with legislation and internal policies.
  • Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
  • Attend departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
  • Foster teamwork among shifts, staff, and adhere to the collective agreement.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, lockout procedures, and PPE usage.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English; second language skills are an asset.
  • Meet one of the following criteria:
  • Completed a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a community college or approved school, OR
  • RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapist, or Physiotherapy student who has completed Year 1.
  • Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
  • Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
  • Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid Certification.
  • Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
  • VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
