Job summary

Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.

  1. Assist registered staff with nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  2. Complete all documentation accurately and on time, following corporate policies.
  3. Ensure holistic, quality resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
  4. Support resident meal service and restorative nursing activities.
  5. Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
  6. Deliver care in compliance with legislation, best practices, and policies.
  7. Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
  8. Maintain accurate documentation for all care provided, adhering to regulations and internal standards.
  9. Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
  10. Engage in departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
  11. Foster teamwork between shifts and staff, respecting the collective agreement.
  12. Adhere to health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, lockout procedures, and PPE usage.
Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English; second language skills are an asset.
  • Must meet one of the following:
    • Completion of a Ministry-approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized college or school.
    • RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
  • Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
  • Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
  • Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
  • Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
  • VSS clearance within the past year confirming no criminal record.
