Responsibilities
  1. Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
  2. Assist registered staff with diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  3. Complete documentation accurately and timely, adhering to policies.
  4. Ensure holistic, quality resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Resident Bill of Rights.
  5. Support resident meal services and restorative nursing.
  6. Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
  7. Follow current legislation, best practices, policies, and procedures.
  8. Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
  9. Maintain accurate documentation for all care provided.
  10. Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
  11. Attend departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
  12. Promote teamwork and adherence to safety procedures, including PPE use and proper body mechanics.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written; second language skills are an asset.
  • Completion of a Ministry-approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) or be an RN, RPN, Paramedic, or Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy student in Year 1.
  • Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
  • Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
  • Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid Certificates.
  • Meet health surveillance requirements under the Public Hospitals Act.
  • VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
