Job summary

Stay at Home Nursing is seeking a Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide one-to-one home care in Whitby. The role focuses on helping clients live safely, comfortably, and with dignity, with an emphasis on weekend shifts and reliable, consistent support.

Responsibilities include personal care, mobility assistance, meal preparation, companionship, and following care plans while traveling between client homes within the region.

Qualifications

• PSW Certificate or approved equivalent.
• First Aid & CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Ability to travel between client homes in your region.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal care instructions.
• Vulnerable Sector Check required prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and hygiene assistance.
• Support mobility, transfers, and safe movement — including mechanical lifts.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when required.
• Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support.
• Monitor client wellbeing and report changes in condition to the care team.
• Follow individualized care plans and document care activities accurately.
• Support clients with light household tasks related to their care.
• Accompany clients during outings or appointments when required.

What You'll Do

• You will provide one-to-one home care in clients' private residences — working independently with the support of a professional care team


• Schedules include days, evenings, weekends, and overnights depending on your availability and client needs
