Responsibilities

• Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
• Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
• Complete all documentation timely and accurately, complying with policies.
• Ensure holistic, quality resident care aligned with RhynoCare's Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
• Support resident meal service and restorative nursing.
• Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
• Follow legislation, best practices, policies, and procedures in care delivery.
• Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs.
• Maintain accurate documentation for all care provided.
• Mentor new staff / students and promote educational opportunities.
• Engage in departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
• Foster teamwork among shifts and staff, respecting the collective agreement.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, safety protocols, and PPE usage.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Proficient in verbal and written English; second language skills are an asset.
• Must meet one of the following :
• Completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (min. 640 hours) from a recognized college or school.
• RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
• Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
• Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
• Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
• Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
• VSS within the past year confirming no criminal record.
