Job summary

Extendicare's Longfields Manor in Ottawa is seeking a Casual Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our compassionate care team. You will provide direct personal care including ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming, while supporting residents' physical, emotional and social needs with dignity.

Candidates must have a PSW program or HCA/CCA certification, experience in long-term or community home care, and English communication skills.

Qualifications

• Completed a PSW Program or HCA/CCA certification that meets the appropriate standards as required for the position.
• Experience in Long Term Care or community home care setting with exposure to dementia and palliative care is preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in care planning systems and documentation.
• Ability to communicate positively with other staff, residents/patients and families.
• Ability to provide care in accordance with applicable legislation, nursing care plans, and English instructions.
• Experience working independently in Community Home Care is an asset.

Job Description

The PSW/HCA/CCA provides direct personal support and care to patients to fulfil the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual needs of patients in accordance to polices, procedure and work routines. Assists in providing direct care such as ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming.
