Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time PSW/HCA/CCA to provide direct personal support and care in line with policies and routines. Responsibilities include ambulation, feeding, bathing, grooming, and compassionate patient care in a community/home care setting.

Qualifications include completion of a PSW program or HCA/CCA certification. Experience in long-term care or community home care, dementia and palliative care exposure, and strong communication are preferred.

Job Description

The PSW/HCA/CCA provides direct personal support and care to patients to fulfil the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual needs of patients in accordance to polices, procedure and work routines. Assists in providing direct care such as ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming.

Qualifications

• Completed a PSW Program or HCA/CCA certification that meets the appropriate standards as required for the position
• Experience in Long Term Care or community home care setting with exposure to dementia and palliative care is preferred
• Knowledge and experience in care planning systems and documentation
• Ability to communicate positively with other staff, residents/patients and families
• Ability to provide care in accordance with application legislation, job routines, nursing care plans, ability to read and write English and understand verbal and written instructions in English
• Experience working independently in Community Home Care is an asset
• Flexibility to work on different units as per facility requirements
• Ability to work safely aligning with health and safety measure
